A solid training program

IKO offers a reliable and professional training program. Instructors become IKO certified by attending the 5 days Instructor Training Course (ITC). The training program corresponds precisely to kiteboarding teaching methods. The certification is recognized as the international standard in teaching.
At the end of the training, you will have developed abilities in the following major areas: safety, practical environment, analysis, technique, teaching psychology and live situation.
After attending an ITC, you will be qualified as an IKO Instructor level 1 and will be able to continue your pro training to become a Level 2, or stay active by participating in Online Education and earning Continuing Education Points.

Prerequisites

Candidates to an ITC Level 1 must:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Read, write and speak fluently in the language the course is given.
• Have one-year minimum kiteboard riding experience and be at an IKO level 3n for at least 6-months (jumping and riding tow side). Perform level 3n skills on demand in all wind conditions from 10-30 knots.
• Have a valid First Aid and CPR certificate or complete it before the ITC with the IKO Examiner running the course.
• Have a powerboat license if required or other boat safety course certification.
• Pass online Pre-ITC Course.
• Have an IKO Assistant Instructor certification or log 40 hours shadowing with a level 2 IKO Instructor and have an IKO letter of recommendation signed.
• Sign the waiver form.

IKO Crossover courses (IEC)

Being part of the IKO professional instructor training schemes means you maybe able to take the shorter version of the course which is offered to anyone who is already qualified as an IKO snowkite or powerkite instructor. Core components of the IKO instructor training packages follow the same format whether on land, sea or snow. The tenants of teaching are always the same, so teaching methodology, lesson planning, dealing with learning challenges and so on are common to all IKO courses, enabling the IKO to offer the crossover course with full confidence. You must still meet the specific personal riding prerequisite for this branch of power kite sports. Our ITC's are in high demand so please book early to avoid disappointment.
