Snow kite courses and lessons

Snowkite Starter Courses – IKO levels 1 and 2

Course info - A five-day programme aimed at people who can already ski or snowboard and may have some basic kite flying experience. The course runs for 3 hours per day and will be timed around the wind and conditions. The group size is limited to a maximum of 6 students.

What it does - The Snow Starter course will take you from the point of how to set-up and fly your power kite through to cruising around on the snow. During the course you will cover all you need to know from handling the kites, equipment and location safety, weather, wind and kiting conditions, starting to ride, riding cross and upwind, how to stop and the all important emergency safety procedures. By the end of the week we aim to have you riding independently and ready for that next snowkite holiday were you can go solo, but of course you could always come back to us and learn some more advanced skills.

What it is - The courses follow the IKO snowkiter scheme and you will receive your snowkite card at the end of the course, which shows the level you have achieved during the week, provides the opportunity for you to get insurance for future snowkiting and enables you to hire kite equipment for other IKO snowkite schools.

  • Course cost - £250.00 (covers all instruction and snowkite insurance)
  • Course dates – Jan 2007 15-19 Feb 2007 12-16 Mar 2007 12-16
    22-26 19-23 19-23

Progression and Crossover courses – IKO level 1-3

Course info – A week-long support and coaching programme designed to either help you crossover the skills you have gained in either kite surfing or kite landboarding or help you reach the next Plato of riding if you already have some snowkiting experience behind you. The coaching programmes run for 2 hours per day based around wind and conditions. The group size is limited to a maximum of 6 students.

What it does – If you are following the crossover course it will take the skills that you already have and helps you convert them into the snowkite skills you need. All key skills will be covered for you, set-up and pack down in the snow, moving off on your ski’s or board, all the safety knowledge for snow, ice and mountain conditions, plus of course the all important jumping on snow techniques. You must of course already also be either skiing or snowboarding to competent level, but after that we will work with you to meet the needs of your kite skill level. With the progression coaching our instructor will work on the snowkite skills you already have and progress you towards the next level, be that riding upwind, learning to jump or dialling a new move.

What it is – With the crossover and progression coaching courses you will cover the IKO snowkiter standards from levels 1-3 depending upon what point you are at and what level you reach. At the end of the week your instructor will assess your new riding level and issue you with your IKO snowkiter card. You may well of course progress beyond this level, which is bonus indeed.

  • Course cost - £180.00 (covers all coaching and snowkite insurance)
  • Course dates – Jan 2007 15-19 Feb 2007 12-16 Mar 2007 12-16 22-26 19-23 19-23
